A few weeks ago, the government of Mexico has decreed the denomination of the Revillagigedo Archipelago as a National Protected Area, which prohibits all fishing activities, the extraction of natural resources and the establishment of hotel infrastructure.

The archipelago extends over more than 14 million hectares, making it equal to the surface area of Illinois or 100 times the size of Mexico City; they are home to over 983 species, 88 of which are endemic and another 68 are at some type of risk.

At Spearmex we celebrate this decision, because we know that not only will the archipelago be protected by force but this will help to revitalize the marine life of the whole planet.
